Family of Eateries

In modern times, the mobile device has emerged as an extremely adaptable and multipurpose instrument. Consequently, it has become more effortless, advantageous, and thrilling to utilize. Nowadays, people can effortlessly make restaurant reservations or browse menus without having to manually search for phone numbers or make phone calls. By simply clicking a button, everything can be accomplished. A mobile application for restaurants was created with a user-friendly interface to display essential information about the restaurant such as menus, maps, and the ability to make reservations.

About the Project

This project required a considerable amount of effort in terms of designing and coding using html/css, jQuery, JavaScript, and other scripts. Our primary objective was to develop an application that allows users to locate their preferred restaurants effortlessly through a single app. Users can browse menus, view restaurant locations, and make reservations with ease. We implemented a modern, appealing, and user-friendly design across all aspects of the app.

Objective & Challenges

The Family of Eateries brand developed a user-friendly mobile app for a series of restaurant chains. The main challenge was ensuring that the app's functionality was optimal to achieve a seamless user interface. After completing the first restaurant, we only had to tweak the design to fit each specific chain. The reservation page was particularly challenging to design, but after gathering feedback and conducting research, we developed a sleek and contemporary page. My primary role in this project was to design the branding and visual aspects of the app. Careful consideration was given to select appropriate colors and graphics that aligned with the story and theme of each restaurant. At times, it was challenging to make certain decisions.

The Process

The project began with planning and sketching to organize and integrate all the ideas. Research was beneficial in helping to develop logos for each restaurant. Understanding the meaning behind each name aided in designing abstract graphics that conveyed a deeper significance. The overall layout design was created in Adobe XD, enabling the movements and transitions to be planned and tested before coding. This saved considerable time during the planning phase. Once the design and planning were completed, the coding phase began. The app starts with a short loading screen displaying the main logo, followed by the restaurant choice page. Each restaurant has an "about" page displaying its story, location, hours, and other information. The featured menu items with prices and descriptions are displayed on the following page, presented in an attractive visual design. The reservation page allows users to make reservations within the app, including the choice of time, date, and number of people. The last page displays a map showing the restaurant's location. The hamburger menu on the side provides additional information and enables users to return to the main selection page. This step-by-step approach results in a seamless app outcome.

The Deliverable

The objective of this project was to develop a user-friendly design and functional app to view multiple restaurants. The various stages of the project were combined to achieve a successful outcome. The interactive app demonstrated the utilization of different design and media skills. To gain a better understanding of the project's process, the final app can be accessed here.
